10 reasons to look closely before you decide who runs your shares

Some people want the work. Some people want it done. This page is about Investor Plus, the do-it-yourself path at $247 a year, with the exits worked out and the analysts on call. If you'd rather not do it at all, the end of the page has the other path.

What every formal recommendation looks likeExample
TARGET 2.30 BUY UNDER 2.00 STOP 1.85
Buy under$2.00
Stop$1.85
Target$2.30
Illustrative example only, not a real recommendation. Every formal Investor Plus recommendation gives you all three numbers before you buy.

Reason 01 · The work

The hard decisions arrive already made

If what you dislike about shares is the deciding, this path carries most of it for you. Every formal recommendation arrives with three numbers: the price to buy under, where the analysts would step aside, and the target, with a timeframe. You still place the trade yourself, through your own broker.

So your part is short: watch the video, decide whether the idea suits you, and follow the levels it gives you. When a stop or target is reached, the decision was made long before. You're not hoping, you're following a system.

"The team at Equity Story have given me the ability to trade without emotion. Simple strategies that work. Keep to the plan and it works."
Tim
"One of the hardest thing is when to sell, they'll let you know what they think if its time to do that. … I cannot trade without this one."
Chris D.
Reason 02 · The stop

The stop is decided before the buy

Equity Story's rule is short: decide the exit before the entry, then stick to it. The stop-loss guidance tells you, ahead of time, how much you're prepared to lose on a position. When a share turns, you step aside at the line and keep your capital for the next idea.

Most investors know they should work this way. Few keep it up on their own. Members say this is the habit that changed their results. And calls do miss: stops are guidance and prices can gap past them. The stop is what keeps a miss small.

"The losses I have sustained have been aggravated through my own fault by not following Dave's advice of using an 8% stock loss. Since I have been using the stock loss I have gained considerably…"
Gregory D.
"They do not get 100% of their calls correct, but they do very well."
Roy R.
Reason 03 · The team

A chartist and a fundamentalist, checking each other's work

Every recommendation has to get past two people who read shares differently. David reads the chart. Pete reads the business. When one of them isn't convinced, you hear the argument.

Equity Story Pty Ltd holds Australian Financial Services Licence 343937 and is part of ASX-listed Aland Equity Group (ASX: AEG), so you can look them up before you join.

Reason 04 · Live

Ask The Analyst: question the people doing the work

David TildesleyPeter KopetzYour hosts: David Tildesley and Peter Kopetz

Tuesday night or Friday lunchtime, you're on Zoom with David and Pete. Ask how they think, why a stop sits where it does, or what they'd do with a share you already hold. It's the quickest way to judge whether these are people you'd trust, whichever path you end up choosing. The recordings sit in the archive.

"The personal support and ability to interact with the lead analysts is what makes this product a no brainer."
Paula H.
"These guys go way beyond the call of duty! … 2 Zoom sessions a week where we can ask them their opinion"
Cathy O.
Reason 05 · Daily

Fifteen to twenty minutes a weekday, and that's the job

David and Pete record Daily Market Edge at their desks every weekday, with no studio and no script: what the ASX did, which shares they like and why, and the buy-under, stop and target for each formal recommendation. Watch it with your morning coffee. If that already sounds like more than you want to give, skip to the last section first.

"After trying a few different companies I found Equity Story to be the company i easily understood and felt comfortable with."
Michelle W.
Reason 06 · Sunday

The team's best idea for the week, in your inbox on Sunday night

Hot Stocks Weekly Pick is the team's highest-conviction idea for the week ahead, with entry, stop and target guidance. Read it on Sunday evening and Monday morning starts with the plan already written.

"A couple of days later and sold back out of it with a nice 15% return. Just on that one trade. Thats why I'm sticking with these guys."
Greg M.

Reason 07 · Signals

Einstein's Report: the weekly signal board

Every week the shares the team follows get a signal: Buy, Bullish, Sell or Bear, with the chart showing support, resistance and momentum. It's the quickest way to check whether something you already hold has turned, and what to steer clear of.

"The Einstein's trends paid off for me… The emphasis on keeping your money safe while also staying a breast of current economic developments."
Kylie W.
Reason 08 · Method

Learn the exit-first method in week one

In your first week David teaches you the basics of the Cincinnati Trading Method: planning the exit, sizing the position, setting the stop. From then on you can see why each stop sits where it does, and run the same checks on the shares you already own.

"I strayed believing this particular stock was going much higher, but it never did and I paid the price for not following their advice. The system works…"
Chris D.
Reason 09 · Honestly

Who this path suits, and who it doesn't

Investor Plus suits people who want to make their own calls with professional levels in front of them. It asks for some time and attention each week, and you place every trade yourself.

If you want none of that, this membership will feel like homework. That's a fair reason to choose the other path at the bottom of this page, and nobody here will try to argue you out of it.

"I don't think anyone or any advice can give such guarantees. The annual subscription is designed to give you some ideas it is up to you to put in the work … member for life"
Kay
"…David gave me more time than I could have hoped for just chatting, no hard sell…"
S M.

FAQ

Questions people ask before joining

I don't want to trade at all. Is this for me?

Probably not, and that's fine. Investor Plus is for people who place their own trades with the analysts' levels in front of them. If you'd rather hand the work over entirely, read the two paths at the bottom of this page and choose the one that fits.

How much work does Investor Plus take?

About 15 to 20 minutes a weekday for the daily video, plus the Sunday pick. The live sessions are optional and recorded. You place your own trades through your own broker; Equity Story never handles your money.

Do your picks always go up?

No, and nobody honest will promise you that. Losses are part of investing and no approach avoids them. That's why every formal recommendation comes with stop-loss guidance, so you decide ahead of time how much you're prepared to lose. Stops aren't guaranteed: prices can gap past them. The method works on weekly charts, so judge a call over weeks. As one member put it: "They do not get 100% of their calls correct, but they do very well."

Is Equity Story licensed?

Yes. Equity Story Pty Ltd holds Australian Financial Services Licence 343937 and is part of Aland Equity Group Limited (ASX: AEG).

I'm fairly new to this. Will I keep up?

Yes. David covers the exit-first foundations in your first week, and you can bring any question to the live sessions, however basic it feels.

How much time does it take?

About 15–20 minutes a weekday for the daily video, plus the Sunday pick. The live sessions are optional, and the recordings sit in the archive if you can't make it.

Is this personal financial advice?

No. Investor Plus is general advice. It doesn't take your personal objectives, financial situation or needs into account. Consider whether it's right for you, and speak to a licensed adviser if you need personal advice.

What happens after I join?

You get instant access to today's video, the archive and the link for this week's live sessions. In your first week David takes you through the exit-first basics. You trade through your own broker; Equity Story never handles your money or places trades for you.

How does the refund policy work?

Give it a proper go: watch the daily videos, come along to at least one Ask The Analyst session and have a look at the weekend reports. If you decide within 30 days of joining that it's not for you, email support@equitystory.com.au and ask for a refund of your $247. Refunds are subject to our refund policy and its conditions. See the terms and conditions.

How does billing and renewal work?

It's $247 a year. Your membership renews automatically at $247 each year unless you cancel, and you'll get an email before it renews. Cancel any time before your renewal date by emailing support@equitystory.com.au and you won't be charged again.

Will you try to sell me other things?

Equity Story runs other things, such as the full Cincinnati Trading Method training and live events, and members hear about them. You don't need any of them to get full value from Investor Plus.

How is this different from other share newsletters?

Plenty of services give you the buy. Investor Plus gives you the exit plan as well, and twice a week you can put your questions to the analysts who made the call.

Do I need a particular broker?

No. Use whichever broker you like. Equity Story doesn't handle your money or place trades for you.
